Charter

This charter sets out what the Storage Scale User Group is for, how it runs, and what members can expect. The group is free to join and open to anyone using, evaluating or integrating IBM Storage Scale (GPFS), across any industry, from media and academia to research, finance, automotive, defence and pharmaceuticals.

Our purpose

Bring users together

Connect the people who run Storage Scale, including Storage Scale with Storage Protect for ILM and HSM, in one community.

Represent members

Represent our members' needs and raise them with IBM.

Work with IBM

Help improve Storage Scale by working closely with IBM and with members.

Share knowledge

Offer a friendly, local community for support and knowledge sharing.

Raise awareness

Show what Storage Scale can do for data, AI and HPC at scale.

How the group runs

We run as a web community with events held through the year, usually hosted by our members or by IBM. The group is not officially endorsed by IBM, but we work closely with Storage Scale representatives and developers at IBM to bring speakers and expertise to our events. Most of our communication happens through the mailing list and this website; mailing list members get an occasional note to review their preferences.

Your role as a member

  • Get involved and share your feedback.
  • Network with other members: answer questions, share ideas and welcome newcomers.
  • Help others by sharing your experience and tips, including writing for the website.
  • Post technical blogs that would interest other members (contact the organiser for access).
The group is for technical discussion and knowledge sharing, not a sales or marketing channel for vendors. That said, we gratefully acknowledge that vendor support and marketing funding are crucial to sustaining the group and meeting its objectives.

Join us

It is free and open to all. Join the group or get in touch.
